Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a stark warning on December 12, declaring its readiness to expand any conflict beyond the region if Iran is attacked. The statement comes against a backdrop of escalating tensions between Iran and its regional adversaries, including Israel and the United States.
An IRGC spokesperson stated: "If any act of aggression is carried out against Iran, we will not only respond within the region but will take the conflict beyond current borders." He emphasized that potential attacks could have unforeseen consequences for global security.
The message follows weeks of heightened tensions linked to Iran's nuclear program and drone attacks targeting military facilities. The IRGC also accused Israel and the United States of being behind recent assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists.
Earlier, Iranian officials warned that Tehran could use ballistic missiles and long-range weapons to retaliate against any attack. Experts suggest such a move could plunge the Middle East into a large-scale conflict, drawing in multiple countries and armed groups.
The United States and its allies are currently bolstering their military presence in the Gulf, while Israel continues airstrikes on Iran-linked targets in Syria. The rising tensions have fueled international concerns about the risk of an all-out war.
