Amid deepening regional integration, Iran and Tajikistan have underscored their commitment to enhancing transport cooperation, viewing it as a vital pillar for promoting connectivity and economic development between the two countries and across the broader region.
During a meeting between senior officials from both nations, discussions focused on road, rail, and multimodal transport projects aimed at shortening cargo transit times, reducing logistics costs, and facilitating trade flows between the two countries.
A key highlight was the efficient utilization of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), where Iran serves as a crucial bridge and Tajikistan leverages its geographic advantage to connect with Central Asia. Both sides agreed to swiftly finalize outstanding technical and legal agreements to move toward implementing concrete projects as soon as possible.
Iran also expressed its readiness to share experience and technology in transport infrastructure construction, as well as to train human resources for Tajikistan. In turn, Tajikistan appreciated its cooperation with Iran and affirmed it would create favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to expand investment in the transport sector.
Experts note that accelerating transport cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan not only brings direct benefits to both economies but also contributes to promoting regional integration, opening new opportunities for cross-border trade and enhancing the two countries' roles in global supply chains.
