On March 8, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that Iran and Oman have reached agreements on new cooperation deals. Specifically, the official emphasized that both sides have agreed on concrete arrangements to enhance bilateral relations across various fields.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Baghaei said the negotiations between the two countries took place as both Tehran and Muscat seek to expand cooperation, particularly on regional and economic issues. However, the official did not disclose specific details about the content of the new agreements.
Notably, this statement came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Oman earlier. During the visit, the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including the situation in the Red Sea and regional developments.
Analysts assess that the enhanced cooperation between Iran and Oman reflects a positive diplomatic trend in the Middle East, despite persistent tensions in some hotspots. Oman has long been regarded as a mediating bridge in regional affairs, maintaining good relations with both Iran and other Arab countries.
Additionally, Baghaei mentioned plans to hold a meeting between senior officials of the two countries in the near future to operationalize the agreements reached. Accordingly, technical meetings are expected to be conducted to implement the cooperation provisions.
