On February 24, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with his Ethiopian counterpart Gedion Timothewos on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Araghchi emphasized that bilateral relations between Tehran and Addis Ababa are on a positive trajectory and expressed hope that the two countries would soon implement signed agreements, particularly in economic and trade sectors.
The Iranian top diplomat also highlighted BRICS's increasingly important role in promoting multilateral cooperation, noting that both Iran and Ethiopia's membership facilitates stronger coordination of positions on regional and international issues.
For his part, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos welcomed progress in bilateral ties, affirming Addis Ababa values its relationship with Tehran and is ready to advance joint cooperation mechanisms, including within BRICS, for the benefit of both nations.
The two diplomats also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East, Africa, and matters of mutual concern, agreeing to maintain close consultations in the coming period.
