Iran Denies Role in Attack on UAE

Iranian military sources on August 20 denied responsibility for reported attacks on the UAE, state media reported. The statement came amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Al Jazeera, Iranian military sources on August 20 said Iran was not responsible for reported attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The sources said the attacks “neither targeted nor originated from Iranian territory.”
The information was carried by Iranian state media, which also asserted Tehran had no plans to attack the UAE.
The statement came amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where the U.S. is deploying forces to escort ships. Iranian officials also warned that vessels linked to adversaries may not be allowed free passage through the waterway.
