Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on April 7 declared that threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump carry no weight with Tehran. Addressing lawmakers, Ghalibaf stressed Iran is ready to confront any provocative actions from the United States.
“Mr. Trump's threats are like wind passing through the ears of the Iranian people. We have prepared all options to protect our sovereignty and national interests,” Ghalibaf said. He also affirmed that Iran does not seek conflict but will respond harshly if attacked.
The statement came amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran after Washington accused Tehran of being behind attacks on American forces in the Middle East. Trump had previously threatened military action unless Iran changes its course.
Analysts say Ghalibaf's remarks aim to affirm Iran's hardline stance under U.S. pressure while reassuring the domestic public about its ability to counter external threats.
