On the occasion of World Children's Day, observed by the United Nations on November 20, Iran issued a statement condemning attacks against innocent children, particularly in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani, the killing of children is an act that is “inhumane and a serious violation of international law.”
Kanaani emphasized that “children must be protected under all circumstances, especially in armed conflicts.” He called on international organizations, including the United Nations and the Security Council, to immediately intervene to prevent “war crimes” and ensure the safety of children in conflict zones.
Iran’s statement came amid statistics showing that more than 14,500 Palestinian children have been killed since October 2023 due to Israeli attacks in Gaza. In addition, many Lebanese children have also become victims in the clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.
The Iranian representative also criticized the international community's silence on human rights violations and demanded an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to protect civilians, particularly children.
