Tehran – On April 19, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the US decision to impose new sanctions against Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani stated: “Iran condemns this action because it violates international law, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.” He emphasized that the US sanctions are “ineffective and have no legal value.”
According to the US Treasury Department, the sanctions target Ambassador Amani over allegations of involvement in activities that threaten regional security, specifically supporting Hezbollah in Lebanon. Tehran rejects all accusations, asserting that Washington is attempting to pressure and interfere in the internal affairs of independent nations.
The move comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the US over Iran's nuclear program and its influence in the Middle East. Iran calls on the international community to oppose unilateral US sanctions, which are seen as contrary to United Nations principles.
