Speaking at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, Iran’s representative criticized attacks on educational and healthcare facilities.
According to the Tasnim news agency, the Iranian delegate stressed that targeting schools and hospitals is a serious violation of international law and must be considered an act of war. The statement came amid escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The speech did not name any specific country or armed group allegedly responsible for the attacks. However, the Iranian representative called on the international community to take concrete action to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure from the consequences of war.
This is not the first time Iran has condemned attacks on healthcare and educational facilities at international forums. Tehran has previously criticized airstrikes by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon that damaged hospitals and schools.
The World Health Assembly is meeting to discuss global health issues, including pandemic response and protecting health systems in conflict zones.
