Speaking at an event, an Iranian official emphasized: “We do not want war, but if someone imposes conflict on us, we will defend ourselves.” The statement is seen as a response to Western warnings about the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
Previously, Iran conducted military exercises near the Strait of Hormuz and stepped up cooperation with regional allies. Analysts suggest that Iran aims to project deterrence while keeping the door open for diplomacy.
Meanwhile, the United States and Israel have increased their military presence in the region, warning of possible retaliatory strikes by Iran. However, Iran insists that any military action it takes is purely defensive and in compliance with international law.
