Iran has sent its response to a U.S. proposal to end the war through Pakistan as a mediator, according to Iran's IRNA news agency. The initial phase of negotiations is expected to focus on ending hostilities. Pakistan has confirmed receipt of the response from Iran, awaiting the next steps.
Iran's state news agency IRNA reported on Sunday that Tehran has transmitted its response to a U.S. proposal to end the war through Pakistan as an intermediary.
According to IRNA, the proposed plan stipulates that the initial phase of negotiations will concentrate on ending hostile actions.
Al Jazeera's correspondent Kamal Hyder in Islamabad said Pakistan has confirmed receipt of the response from Iran. “The Pakistani side has confirmed receiving Iran's response to the U.S. proposal,” he said. “Now that Pakistan has received it, the key issue is when it will be forwarded to the U.S., and then the reaction from Washington.”
