According to a statement from Iran, the country currently has no plans to invite inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit its nuclear facilities. The move comes amid rising tensions between Tehran and Western powers over Iran's nuclear program.
A senior Iranian official told reporters that inviting IAEA inspectors is not on the agenda at this time. The official also asserted that all of Iran's nuclear activities are within the framework of international agreements and there is nothing to hide.
Previously, the IAEA had repeatedly requested that Iran allow its inspectors access to certain sites to clarify previously undeclared nuclear activities. However, Tehran argues that these requests are unfounded and politically motivated.
Iran's refusal to fully cooperate with the IAEA could heighten international suspicions about the nature of its nuclear program. Meanwhile, Western countries, especially the United States and its European allies, have warned that they will consider retaliatory measures if Tehran continues to obstruct inspections.
Negotiations between Iran and relevant parties to revive the 2015 nuclear deal are currently deadlocked. Tehran insists it will not yield to external pressure and will continue to pursue nuclear activities for peaceful purposes.
