Iran Says Lack of Trust Is Main Obstacle in Talks with US

Iran on April 6 declared that a lack of trust is the main obstacle in negotiations with the United States, according to an official statement from Tehran.

Speaking at a press briefing, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Washington must demonstrate genuine goodwill to build trust, rather than making unrealistic demands. He said previous rounds of talks had failed because the US did not honor its commitments.

Tehran insists it will resume dialogue only if all parties fully respect Iran’s national interests and core principles. The statement comes as tensions between the two countries remain high, particularly over Iran’s nuclear program.
