Iran's embassy in a European country (unnamed) issued a statement strongly criticizing Western nations for remaining silent over US military attacks on targets linked to Iran. The statement comes amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington in recent times.
In the communiqué, Iran stressed that the West's silence over US military actions is “reprehensible” and contrary to fundamental principles of international law. The embassy also argued that the West's failure to condemn or respond appropriately enables the US to continue its strikes, increasing the risk of instability in the Middle East.
The statement read: “The West's silence or ambiguous stance toward US military attacks is an act of complicity in aggression, violating national sovereignty and international humanitarian law.” Iran called on the international community, especially European nations, to take a clear position and concrete action to prevent further military escalation.
There has been no official response from the US or Western nations to these allegations. Washington has previously conducted numerous airstrikes against Iran-backed armed groups in Syria and Iraq, as well as imposing new economic sanctions on Tehran.
US-Iran relations have been tense since Washington unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018. Recent developments indicate that the risk of regional conflict remains high, causing international concern.
