Italian coach Roberto Piazza is bringing a fresh impetus to Iran's men's volleyball team after the squad endured a difficult period. Since taking over in 2023, he has helped Iran win a bronze medal at the Asian Games 2023 and is steering the team in their bid to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Before Piazza's arrival, Iran's team had declined following the departure of legendary coach Igor Kolakovic. Under Piazza, Iran's style of play has become more flexible, thanks to a blend of experienced hitters like Milad Ebadipour and emerging young talents.
Piazza is renowned for his scientific coaching methods, emphasizing tactical discipline and team spirit. He previously worked at several top clubs in Italy and Russia before accepting the role with Iran.
Iran currently ranks 10th in the world and aims to break into the top eight at the Paris 2024 Olympics—an ambition that looks entirely feasible under Coach Roberto Piazza.
