Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract with the reigning Premier League champions, keeping him at the Emirates until 2030. The club made the announcement on Wednesday, with the Spaniard's previous deal due to expire at the end of the current season.
"It is a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue working with special people who always want the best for Arsenal," said the 44-year-old Arteta.
"This club is unique, in its character and in the way it makes you feel. I feel incredibly fortunate that our journey together will continue," he added.
"We have built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime. The exciting thing is that everything we can achieve together is only just beginning."
Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and has restored the club to the summit of English football, winning their first Premier League title in 22 years last season. He also led the Gunners to their first Champions League final in two decades last campaign, though they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Manchester City, after a 0-3 defeat to Brighton before the international break.
Arsenal co-owners Stan and Josh Kroenke said: "It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited about what lies ahead in this special relationship."
"Last season was an incredible moment in Arsenal's history, a moment when we created memories that will last a lifetime. We are determined to create many more of those memories in the years to come."
"We have a special bond with Mikel. We are incredibly proud of everything that has been achieved since he returned to the club in 2019."
Arsenal return to Premier League action with a home game against Leeds on Saturday.
