Hezbollah said it attacked an Israeli Merkava tank in the Biyyada area of southern Lebanon with a guided missile on the evening of April 1. The armed group claimed the missile hit its target and that the tank was seen on fire.
In a statement on Telegram, Hezbollah said the attack took place at 11:45 p.m. local time in order to “defend Lebanon and its people and to respond to the violations of the ceasefire agreement committed by the Israeli enemy and its attacks on villages in southern Lebanon.”
The incident comes as tensions escalate along the Israel-Lebanon border despite a signed ceasefire agreement. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
