Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched through several European capitals, demanding an end to Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
In London, demonstrators paraded past the British Parliament carrying banners reading "Stop the Genocide" and "Free Palestine."
"We are here today to mark three years of ongoing conflict in Gaza," Aimee Shalan, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, told AFP, calling for "comprehensive sanctions to be imposed on Israel."
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, a ceasefire was supposed to have taken effect a year ago, but Israel has continued near-daily airstrikes on Gaza, killing around 1,450 Palestinians since the truce began.
London police said they arrested several people, including a man and a woman carrying banners supporting Palestine Action, a group banned under British law. Authorities also warned they would use public order powers to force masked protesters to remove face coverings, pledging "zero tolerance" for hate crimes.
In Berlin, about 3,500 people joined a march organized by United for Palestine, according to local police. The crowd set off from a square between the Chancellery and the German parliament, with many protesters condemning Germany's arms exports and its long-standing military support for Israel.
Similar marches took place in Warsaw and Rome, where protesters denounced Israeli airstrikes and their governments' ties with Israel, calling for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
According to Gaza officials, the conflict has devastated much of the Gaza Strip and killed more than 74,200 Palestinians since October 2023.
