In a recent address, Islamic scholar Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh declared that the Hajj pilgrimage is, in essence, a form of service to humanity. He stressed that pilgrims should not only perform the rituals but also embody a spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, and the dissemination of peace.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh explained that Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, goes beyond mere compliance with rites. It requires pilgrims to demonstrate compassion, tolerance, and respect for all people, regardless of nationality or ethnicity. According to him, this is how Hajj can contribute to building a more humane society.
The speech also highlighted that millions of faithful from around the world converge on Mecca annually, creating an opportunity to strengthen friendship and cooperation. Simple acts of kindness, such as helping the elderly or sharing water, were noted as integral to a genuine Hajj.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh concluded that if pilgrims undertake Hajj with the proper spirit, it becomes a positive force for all humanity, promoting peace and understanding between cultures.
