Two university entrance exam candidates in Seoul were caught using banned artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated glasses during the admissions test, sources said Tuesday.
According to the sources, the two test-takers were discovered while sitting the exam at two different schools in Seoul this month. The AI glasses, which are listed among items prohibited in exam rooms, are believed to have been used by the two candidates for cheating.
Details of how the two candidates will be dealt with, as well as any legal or administrative consequences for the cheating, have not been fully disclosed. The relevant education authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the case.
The incident has raised concerns about the use of high-tech devices, particularly AI, in high-stakes exams, as well as the challenges this poses for invigilation and for safeguarding the fairness of the test.
