Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki each scored twice as Manchester City claimed a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace in the second round of the Premier League. The champions recorded their second straight victory, while the hosts continued their winless start to the season.
City took the lead in the first half through a Haaland header. After the break, Cherki impressed with a skillful dribble and a angled finish to make it 2-0. He completed his double with a deflected shot from outside the box to extend the lead.
Between Cherki's goals, Crystal Palace pulled one back through Yeremy Pino's free kick. His effort struck the post and rebounded off City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma into the net, credited as an own goal.
City sealed the win with a fourth goal as Phil Foden set up Haaland, who slotted home with his left foot to make it 4-1.
In their season opener, City had struggled against Bournemouth before coming from behind to win with late goals. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, suffered a second consecutive defeat following their 0-2 loss to Everton, leaving them bottom of the table.
