The Iran Para Athletics Championships officially opened in the capital Tehran, drawing a large number of disabled athletes from provinces and cities nationwide.
According to organizers, the event runs for five days, from March 10 to 14, at Tehran's main stadium. This is a key sporting event for people with disabilities, aiming to promote sportsmanship and provide athletes with a platform to showcase their talents.
Athletes are competing in various disciplines including running, jumping, throwing, and other track and field events, adapted to different types of disabilities. Organizers noted that the championships also serve as an opportunity to select the most outstanding athletes for upcoming international competitions.
Many athletes from distant provinces such as Khuzestan, Isfahan, and Mashhad have arrived in Tehran, driven by the ambition to win medals. One athlete shared, "This is a wonderful chance for us to exchange ideas, learn, and assert ourselves."
This year's event is considered larger in scale than previous editions, with a significant increase in both the number of athletes and events. Images from the event show a lively atmosphere and enthusiastic cheering from the audience.
