On Saturday, the Japan Parade took place near Central Park in Manhattan, New York, drawing a large crowd despite rainy weather.
This large-scale street festival aimed to showcase Japan's rich culture to the American public. Performance groups from various cultural organizations, schools, and clubs presented traditional dances, martial arts demonstrations such as karate and kendo, along with other distinctive artistic activities.
Despite early rain, thousands gathered along the streets to cheer and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Applause and cheers rang out continuously as performance groups passed by. Some spectators even brought umbrellas and wore raincoats to keep watching the show.
This was the second year the Japan Parade was held in New York, following the success of the inaugural event last year. Organizers said they hope the parade will become an annual tradition, promoting cultural exchange and enhancing mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.
In addition to performances, visitors could enjoy Japanese street food, explore traditional craft booths, and take photos with people dressed as characters from Japanese pop culture.
