Tajikistan's Ambassador to Tehran, Nizomiddin Zohidi, stated on August 6 that Dushanbe does not support sanctions against Iran, while emphasizing Tajikistan's consistent position in maintaining friendly and cooperative relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Speaking during a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Zohidi affirmed: "Tajikistan does not support and does not participate in unilateral sanctions against Iran, and we always respect Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
The Tajik diplomat also expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen and expand in various fields, particularly in economic, trade, and cultural areas.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry official welcomed Tajikistan's stance, noting that the move reflects mutual understanding and respect between the two brotherly nations.
Relations between Tajikistan and Iran have seen positive developments recently, with high-level delegation exchanges and bilateral cooperation agreements being signed. Both countries have emphasized the importance of enhancing regional and international cooperation.
Iran and Tajikistan share deep historical and cultural ties, both belonging to the Persian-speaking bloc, and have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992. Dushanbe's rejection of Western sanctions against Tehran is seen as a positive signal of unity in bilateral relations, amidst the external pressures Iran faces.
