Ambassadors of Iran, China and Russia participated in a joint meeting with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The meeting took place at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, in accordance with the scheduled agenda.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on nuclear cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, as well as issues related to the implementation of the JCPOA nuclear deal. Representatives of the three countries stressed the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and respecting international legal norms.
The IAEA stated that the meeting was held in an open and constructive atmosphere. Director General Grossi expressed hope that further negotiations would help advance the resolution of outstanding issues related to Tehran's nuclear program.
This is one of the rare ambassadorial-level contacts among the parties involved in the JCPOA since the United States withdrew from the agreement in 2018. Iran, China and Russia are all signatories to the historic nuclear accord.
