Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has criticized European nations for remaining silent on threats made by former U.S. President Donald Trump during bilateral talks in Oman.
Speaking to the press on September 11, Iravani argued that Europe's passive stance has encouraged more provocative U.S. actions. “Europe's silence on Trump's threats is disappointing and contrary to the spirit of diplomacy,” he said.
According to diplomatic sources, talks between U.S. and Iranian representatives in Oman focused on the nuclear program and regional security issues. Trump has been accused of issuing threats to pressure Iran.
Iravani urged the international community, especially European nations, to take a clearer position to prevent further escalation. “Without proper intervention, the situation could become worse,” he warned.
The U.S. administration has not officially commented on the allegations, while European countries have yet to respond specifically.
