Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games Competition Begins Ahead of Opening Ceremony

Competition at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games officially got underway on Friday, two days ahead of the opening ceremony. It is the first time Japan has hosted the continental para sports event, according to Kyodo News.

Ahead of the start of competition, the Games' torch relay kicked off on October 18, building momentum toward the official event.

Starting events before the opening ceremony is common practice at many major sporting tournaments, allowing the schedule to accommodate the number of sports and athletes taking part.
