Park Near Mount Fuji Donates Moss Phlox to Northeast Japan Group for Replanting

A park near Mount Fuji donated 8,000 moss phlox plants to a group in Yamagata Prefecture, northeastern Japan, on Tuesday to help it replant flower beds that were badly damaged by the mistaken use of herbicide earlier this year.

According to the park, the moss phlox plants were sent to the group in Yamagata to restore an area known for its vivid pink blooms. Many of the flowers there had died after herbicide was applied unintentionally, affecting the landscape and local activities.

The donation is seen as practical support, giving the Yamagata group a source of plants to recreate the lost flower beds. A representative of the park near Mount Fuji expressed hope that the new plants will quickly take root and bloom again, helping restore a scenic highlight cherished by visitors and local residents.
