On October 4, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered a speech sharply criticizing the role of the United States in the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. He stressed that Washington must take responsibility and pay compensation for the crimes Tel Aviv has committed on Lebanese soil.
Speaking during a closed session of parliament, Ghalibaf stated: 'The US must pay for Israel's crimes in Lebanon. They cannot deny their responsibility as the main ally and backer of Tel Aviv's military operations.'
The Iranian official noted that Israeli airstrikes and attacks on Lebanese territory have caused heavy civilian casualties and destroyed much infrastructure. He called on the international community to condemn the violence and intervene to prevent further escalation.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon. Iran, a close ally of Hezbollah, has repeatedly affirmed Lebanon's right to self-defense against Israeli attacks and criticized the US for providing weapons, intelligence support, and diplomatic cover for Tel Aviv at the UN Security Council.
There has been no official response from the US or Israel to the Iranian parliament speaker's statement.
