Heavy Rain Emergency Warning Issued for Fukui Prefecture in Central Japan

Japan's meteorological agency issued a special heavy rain warning for parts of Fukui Prefecture in central Japan on Sunday, prompting authorities to urge approximately 244,000 residents to take immediate safety precautions.

Initial reports indicate that the intense rainfall has triggered landslides at several locations and left multiple vehicles stranded on flooded roads. Local authorities are closely monitoring the ongoing rain and the risk of further landslides in the area.

Earlier, Japan also experienced a magnitude 5.9 earthquake in the eastern region, including Tokyo, which injured dozens of people. However, the meteorological agency has not issued any tsunami warning related to this seismic event.
