Diplomatic delegations from multiple nations will start arriving in Iran from Friday, May 24, to attend funeral services for President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other senior officials killed in a helicopter crash on May 19.
Official memorial ceremonies are scheduled to take place in the capital Tehran in the coming days, with participation from numerous heads of state and representatives of international organizations. Flights carrying foreign guests are expected to land at major Iranian airports starting Friday.
Iran has implemented stringent security measures and organized reception teams to ensure the safety of international delegations during the multi-day funeral proceedings. The ceremonies will include processions and collective prayers in several provinces across the country.
President Raisi, 63, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and seven others died when their helicopter crashed in a mountainous area near the Azerbaijan border on May 19. The incident has caused profound shock both domestically and internationally.
Iranian authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. Acting President Mohammad Mokhber has been temporarily appointed to lead the country until a new presidential election—expected within 50 days.
