On June 24, in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek, the interior ministers of Iran and Pakistan held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of an international conference on regional security.
According to Iranian sources, the two sides focused on discussing measures to enhance security cooperation, particularly in combating transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, and border control.
The meeting took place as both Iran and Pakistan face security challenges from armed groups operating near their shared border. The two sides agreed to promote intelligence-sharing mechanisms and coordinate operations against common threats.
This is the latest diplomatic engagement in a series of high-level contacts between Tehran and Islamabad, following the Iranian foreign minister's visit to Pakistan in April.
Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian nation, regularly hosts regional security conferences involving multiple countries to promote counterterrorism cooperation and regional stability.
