Iran's Interior Minister departed for Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday to attend a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
According to a statement from Iran's Interior Ministry, the visit aims to discuss security cooperation, counterterrorism, and drug trafficking within the SCO framework. The trip marks a key diplomatic engagement following Iran's full membership in the organization in 2023.
The SCO is an intergovernmental organization founded in 2001, comprising China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and Central Asian states. Iran's accession is seen as a step toward strengthening regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges.
