As part of a regional tour, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Atabak held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The talks focused on strengthening industrial, trade and investment cooperation between Iran and the two Central Asian countries.
During the meeting with Tajikistan's Minister of Industry, the two sides discussed expanding goods exchange and cooperation in mining and mineral processing. The officials agreed to establish an intergovernmental committee to oversee joint projects and boost bilateral trade ties.
In the meeting with Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Mr. Atabak proposed increasing Iranian investment in infrastructure, energy and manufacturing projects in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek minister welcomed the proposals and expressed a desire to step up economic cooperation between the two countries.
Iran's Minister of Industry said these meetings are part of a strategy to expand trade relations with neighboring countries, especially the Central Asian region, and affirmed that Iran is ready to serve as a commercial gateway connecting regional countries to international markets.
