Albania Government Protest Erupts into Violence in Tirana

Protesters clashed with riot police in Albania's capital as demonstrations against the government escalated into violent unrest.

The protests have shaken Tirana since Tuesday, when thousands took to the streets to demand Prime Minister Edi Rama resign, voicing anger over deteriorating university conditions, high tuition fees and corruption.

This week's unrest follows months of anti-government demonstrations in the Balkan country, which began with a controversial resort project linked to the family of US President Donald Trump.
