Barcelona secured their sixth consecutive La Liga win of the season by beating Getafe 3-0 at Camp Nou on Saturday. Anthony Gordon, the Catalan club's new signing, scored his first goal for the team, opening the scoring in just the second minute.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 30th minute through Gabriel Jesus, who was named in the starting lineup by coach Hansi Flick in place of Raphinha – the team's top scorer, who is out with a hamstring injury sustained during the Brazil national team camp.
In the second half, defender Jules Kounde sealed the 3-0 win with a close-range finish from a cross by young talent Lamine Yamal. With this appearance, Kounde has now played 194 matches for Barcelona, surpassing Eric Abidal to become the French player with the most appearances for the club.
The win gives Barcelona 18 points from six matches, temporarily pulling five points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid – who had earlier beaten Alaves 2-1 – and nine points ahead of fourth-placed Real Madrid before Los Blancos hosted Villarreal later the same day.
Gordon, who has impressed since joining Barcelona in the preseason, was the hosts' standout performer in the first half. The winger has continued his strong goalscoring form for England in the recent Nations League matches.
Barcelona also won their Champions League opener, giving them nine wins from nine matches in all competitions this season.
