On August 24, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the Foreign Ministry will coordinate closely with the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) in formulating and implementing the Islamic Republic's foreign policies.

Speaking at a handover ceremony at the Foreign Ministry's headquarters in Tehran, Araghchi stressed that this coordination is essential to ensure consistency and effectiveness in diplomatic activities while serving national interests amid a volatile regional and international context.

The new Iranian foreign minister also outlined priorities for his tenure, including promoting ties with neighboring countries, boosting economic cooperation, and continuing efforts to lift sanctions against Iran.

Araghchi, a former deputy foreign minister who was involved in nuclear negotiations, was appointed by Iran's parliament on August 21, succeeding Nasser Kanaani. He pledged to make every effort to implement the government's foreign policies under the guidance of the Supreme Leader and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
