Angola’s ambassador to South Korea said on May 14 that the country is ready to prioritize crude oil supplies to South Korea to help resolve supply shortages caused by the crisis in the Middle East. This is seen as a foundation for promoting long-term energy cooperation between the two sides.
Speaking in Seoul, the Angolan diplomat emphasized that boosting crude oil exports to South Korea not only helps stabilize Seoul’s energy market but also opens prospects for strategic cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
The move comes amid tensions in the Middle East threatening global oil supplies, prompting South Korea — a country heavily dependent on energy imports — to seek alternative sources. Angola, one of Africa’s largest oil producers, is expected to become a key partner in South Korea’s strategy to diversify its energy sources.
