An Iranian airline has operated five flights from the northern Iranian city of Rasht to the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, meeting the travel needs of pilgrims during the peak religious visitation period.
This initiative is part of Iran's broader plan to boost international flights to Iraq, particularly during major Islamic holidays. The flights have operated on schedule, ensuring safety and convenience for passengers.
The director of Rasht airport said the additional flights to Iraq have received strong support from local residents and visitors, shortening travel time and enhancing connectivity between the two countries. Previously, flights from Rasht primarily served domestic routes, but with the introduction of international services, passenger numbers have risen markedly.
In the coming period, the airline plans to further expand its network, especially routes to Iraq's sacred cities, to better accommodate pilgrims during important religious festivals.
