FIFA’s Infantino ineligible for re-election, says former governance chief

Miguel Maduro, former head of FIFA's governance committee, says Gianni Infantino is ineligible to stand for a fourth term as FIFA president in 2027, citing Article 33 of FIFA's statutes, which limits a president to three terms. FIFA's Council ruled in 2022 that Infantino's 2016–2019 spell, which completed Sepp Blatter's interrupted mandate, does not count as a term.
