British healthcare worker with Ebola evacuated from DR Congo to UK
A British healthcare worker who contracted Ebola while responding to the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is being evacuated to the UK for treatment. UK officials say the patient is in stable condition and will be moved to a specialist high-consequence infectious disease unit; the risk to the British public remains low. The outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has surpassed 10,000 cases and 5,000 deaths, making it the largest and deadliest in DRC history.
