Tanzania’s smallholder farmers struggle to benefit from digital agriculture
Smallholder farmers in Tanzania say government digital agriculture services such as M-Kilimo and e-Kilimo are poorly understood and often too slow to be useful, leaving many reliant on cooperatives, auctions and media for market information. A $3.62m programme aims to train 500,000 farmers and 500 extension workers, but farmers interviewed by Al Jazeera report little practical benefit so far.
