Ukraine raises death toll from Russian strike on Zaporizhia to 40 people
Ukraine has raised the death toll from a Russian strike on an aid centre in the village of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhia region to 40, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that more than 30 people may still be trapped under the rubble. The attack, which involved bombs dropped on a school building used to distribute aid followed by a strike on an underground shelter filled with people, is one of the deadliest on civilians in Russia's nearly five-year war. The UN human rights mission says the bombing likely violated international law, while Russian drones continue to hamper rescue efforts ahead of US-brokered ceasefire talks in Abu Dhabi next week.
