Trump met Russian envoy after he appeared with Melania Trump and Ukrainians
US President Donald Trump said a Russia-Ukraine deal could be "very close" after meeting Kirill Dmitriev, Vladimir Putin's special envoy, at the White House on Thursday, but offered no specifics. The meeting followed a first-of-its-kind diplomatic event hosted by First Lady Melania Trump, who brought Russian and Ukrainian representatives together to build on a six-day local truce she helped broker in Ukraine's southern city of Oleshky in October.
