Meta Seeks Contempt Ruling Against Israeli Spyware Firm NSO Group for Violating Ban
Meta Platforms has filed a motion in a US federal court seeking a contempt ruling against NSO Group, alleging the Israeli spyware company continued targeting WhatsApp and its users despite a permanent injunction. Meta says WhatsApp detected and blocked new spear-phishing attacks linked to NSO, similar to the earlier “1-click” campaign. The move follows a US court order in 2024 that barred NSO from targeting WhatsApp and reduced damages to $4 million.
