Pope Leo XIV Returns to Public View After Lung Cancer Surgery
Pope Leo XIV appeared before about 15,000 faithful in St. Peter's Square for the Sunday Angelus, his first major public outing since surgery for lung cancer. He thanked the crowd, pledged to gradually resume his duties and expressed special gratitude to the staff at Rome's Gemelli Hospital. The surgery confirmed adenocarcinoma, and tests on whether the cancer has spread are still pending.
