Diamond Necklace with 673 Gems Belonging to Egyptian Queen Stolen in Broad Daylight from Vienna Museum
Austrian police are searching for two suspects after a diamond-encrusted necklace once owned by an Egyptian queen was stolen in broad daylight from the MAK museum in Vienna. The thieves smashed the display case with a hammer and fled; no one was injured. The heist is part of a recent wave of bold museum thefts across Europe.
