Clashes Between Armed Groups in Colombia Leave at Least 52 Dead
At least 52 guerrilla fighters have died in clashes between two rival armed groups in a strategic cocaine production and trafficking area in southeastern Colombia. The bloodiest clashes in recent months occurred in the jungle region of Guaviare province, near the village of Barranco Colorado. A faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) involved in the fighting confirmed the death toll, but Reuters could not independently verify the figure.
