Meta agrees to settle lawsuit over teen social media addiction
Meta Platforms has agreed to pay up to $16.68 billion and implement major changes to Facebook and Instagram to settle a lawsuit filed by 29 U.S. states, which accused the company of designing addictive platforms for minors. The settlement includes limits on teen usage, parental controls, and the removal of underage accounts.
