Armenian PM Rejects Russia's Demand for EU Membership Referendum
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has rejected Moscow's demand for an immediate referendum on leaving the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to join the European Union (EU), as tensions between the traditional allies escalate. The rejection came during a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin, with Pashinyan calling the demand 'absurd.' Moscow has since ramped up economic and diplomatic pressure, including recalling its ambassador and suspending fish imports from Armenia.
